ABOUT LUCY SCALES
Lucy Scales is an emerging artist, living and working in Sydney, Australia. With strong and varied interests across multiple disciplines, Scales works are easily recognised by her audience due to her distinctive style.
Scales enjoys combining subjects and themes in unusual, exciting and sometimes uncomfortable ways. A clear interest in blending kitch with elements of horror has emerged at numerous junctures throughout her artistic career, and has served to produce pieces which feel simultaneously joyful and confronting. As well as combining themes, Scales’ paintings, digital collages, sculptures and assemblages are known for their inclusion of a myriad of colours, patterns and textures, with the artist being ‘inspired by every other artwork I have ever seen’.
Recently, Scales has delved into photography, documenting her interactions, surroundings and relationships. Sharing these intimate memories with audiences is a new challenge for the artist, who is excited to see how her audience will interact with these new works.
